Ilves 2-3 TPS
Ilves lost a vital game in the hunt for a play-off place with a 3-2 home loss to TPS (0-0,1-2,1-1)
Mikael Kuronen scored and gave us the lead early in the second period but that was soon cancelled out by TPS’ Tapio Laakso and to make it worse 2 minutes before the end of the second period former Ilves player The Lempäälä Giant, Markko Anttila Scored (which is something he couldn’t do a couple of seasons ago when he played against me in football)!
Toni Rajala converted from a Jyrki Jokipakka assist to make it 2-2 after 45 minutes but 3 minutes later TPS were in the lead again when they took advantage of a Masi Marjamäki penatly and scored on the powerplay through Mika Viinanen.
Despite Sami Aittokallio being out of his net for more than 2 minutes at the end of the game Ilves couldn’t find a 3rd goal and TPS managed to hold on to three points.
Unfortunately this loss came at a bad time as SaiPa beat Pelicans 5-3 at the weekend to leapfrog Ilves which makes us the 14th place team once again. With some important Tampere derby games still to come up in January we must take full advantage. Tonight we go to Pori where we must try to take something back going into our next home game against Tappara.
