Ilves 0-3 JYP
Shut-out at home again
Our last 6 games have been all at Hakametsä, and from a possible 18 points we’ve taken just 4, very poor. We are now 2nd bottom in the liiga, sharing the same amount of points as bottom placed TPS. In our last two games we’ve been shut-out each time, something has to change fast.
Erkki Rajamäki made his return to the team today but Masi Marjamäki missed out. We conceded early again, 2 minutes into the game and Sipiläinen was the scorer. The first period wasn’t very eventful but the second period started disastrously, Välivaara took a penalty, yet it was JYP that scored straight afterwards, a shorthanded goal, the worst kind of goal to take, scoring through Louhivaara this time. Another two powerplay opportunities were wasted by us in the second period.
Into the final 20 minutes and Hubacek scores on a Rajamäki penalty, the game is as good as over and Wiikman goes out to be replaced by Kolppanen. All together we were 0/5 on the powerplay tonight.
Next up is JYP, again tomorrow, The fanimatka has been cancelled, which is a shame to see as it has happened a lot with recent away travels, I’d pay a lot of money to go see Ilves. Playing the Champions is always hard, especially away from home but we surely can only put in an improved performance on today.
Personally it’s been a bad day of sport for me, also watching my country, Scotland lose 2-1 to Wales, but I’m looking forward to the most important game this weekend which is ÅIFK – Ilves, in the Promotion play-off final first leg, a win tomorrow and we’ve got one foot in the Ykkönen!
