Jokerit 2-0 Ilves
The second game in two days, this time a loss. Yesterday we spoiled TPS’ 90th anniversary but couldn’t do the same for Jokerit’s 45th anniversary game.
Really nothing to report about this game, 5 penalties and 2 goals the only points of interest, Kolppanen again did well making 30 saves on 32 shots, 12+6+12. NHL lockout proved another test for Ilves when Detroit Red Wing’s Valtteri Filppula scored the first goal in the first period, Eronen and Moses assisting.
Ilari Filppula scored half way through the second period, Moses again assisting along with former NHL player Jarkko Ruutu. Nothing happened in the final period, Ilves kept trying for the goal but it wasn’t to come, even with Ville Kolppanen leaving the goal for the last minute and a half.
That is the end of our 4 game away streak, next for us HPK at home, we are still currently 13th, Tappara also lost tonight, they play again tomorrow away at JYP and TPS play at home to Blues, another couple of losses for them and we could be set to move up the table on Tuesday, we really need to make our home games count from now on.
All these shut-outs we’ve suffered this season really does point out the fact we need a top centre at the club, not since Colby Genoway have I felt like we could turn a game around at any moment, but I’m more than happy knowing that the new board members and eventually with Vince Manngard selling more and more of his stake in the club that reform and improvement will come.
