SaiPa 7-2 Ilves
The scoreline is pretty shocking but even more so is that SaiPa are 2nd in the league, no really, SaiPa, 2nd…
I thought today might be a loss but not a totally annihilation, SaiPa scored their first goal after just 34 seconds byVille Hoho, then Antti Kangasniemi took a 2+2 for high sticking and SaiPa doubled their lead, Savilahti-Nagander (great name) after 4:33 this was starting to look like it would indeed be a mauling.
24 seconds into the 2nd period and Jyrki Jokipakka (Koistinen) scored on the powerplay o get us right back into the game, well for all of 19 seconds anyway as Juha Koivisto scored at 20:45, Then less than three minutes later it was 4-1, Piitulainen this time. We did managed to get a goal back in under a minute after that though as once again the man I have on the back of my shirt, Jyrki Jokipakka scores another powerplay goal, Niinimäki assisting. 2 penalties got served for each side before the end of the period and as soon as they were all up SaiPa decided to score again, Markku Flinck at 38:44.
Just the two goals in the 3rd period and of course, both were scored by SaiPa, firstly Stefano Giliati and then Savilahti-Nagander with his second. 7-2 not the first time this season we’ve let in 7 goals and probably not the last. Poor Anders Lindbäck must be wondering why we have no defence whatsoever.
I love Ilves and if there needs to be multiple seasons where we are the bottom club, then so be it, change will come but it won’t happen overnight, Manngard is slowly on his way out. Meanwhile our next game is on Saturday vs Espoo Blues, they’ve been losing a few recently, hopefully we can get an important home win, we’re still bottom of the league, by 3 points, 10 points off the play-offs, lets not let this gap get wider.
