PK-35 Vantaa 1-3 Ilves

The streak continues

Captain Toni Kallio lead the Ilves team onto the pitch for our fourth game of the season, at the start of play we were 7th in the league knowing a win would take us into the top half of the Ykkönen league table for the first time this season.

PK-35 looked more likely to score having a lot of early chances but on an Ilves free kick the referee blew his whistle and pointed to the penalty spot after a PK defender was holding onto an ilves shirt stopping a possible scoring opportunity.  Kalle Multanen placed the ball coolly into the top right hand corner with the keeper diving the other way, Ilves leading against PK thanks to a PK (penalty kick).

Ilves should have made it more after having a couple of really good chances in front of goal, but both shots going just over the bar, Ilves started to dominate before the half time whistle.

In the second half it was the home side that made the breakthrough on 63 minutes, a long range free kick came into the box and was missed by everyone apart from Jukka Hirvonen at the back post from 1 meter out he easily equalised to make it 1-1

Constant Ilves pressure finally paid off when we retook the lead after 78mins Jaakko Juuti put through one on one versus the keeper and calmly puts it passed him low into the net, the goal was possibly offside, take a look at the highlights to make your own mind up on that one, but we’ll take it either way.

Just to make sure, we made it 1-3 anyway, Jonne Hjelm recieving the ball in the penalty box and with the goalkeeper already scrambling along the ground in the wrong direction, Hjelm had an easy goal that wrapped up all three points.

Our next game is at home on 2.6 and it is against bottom of the league JIPPO who haven’t won a game yet.  We moved above PK-35 last night into 5th place in the league, another win and we could be into the top three, let’s keep it going, Kiitos Ilves!

Highlights of the game are available in the highlights section.
