[Jalkapallo] Ilves 2-2 VIFK

The last game of the regular season

The final games in the Läntinen section of the Kakkonen division were played out today and we played VIFK from Vaasa, previously when we played them in the away fixture, they actually beat us, 1-0 with the goal coming from Sundkvist.  The only time we’ve lost this season.

It was the visitors today who made the better start today after just 4 minutes they were ahead a lead they would double before half time. Matti Jokinen scored both of our second half goals to keep us from defeat.

Ilves finish the season as group Champions from 26 games:

Won 22
Drawn 3
Lost 1

Scoring 82 goals and conceding 19.

Ilves won the league by 14 points ahead of P-Iirot.

NEXT WEEK, 13th Oct. We play the first of our 2 legged tie against ÅIFK of Turku, the first game being away in Turku  before our return leg in Tampere.  No matter what, we have just 2 games left. The winner of Ilves – ÅIFK will play in the Ykkönen division next season with the chance then to make it to the Veikkausliiga and give Tampere it’s rightful place in the top division in Finnish football once again.

There is no doubt that next Saturday will be the biggest game we’ve played in a long time.

[Jalkapallo] – J.Ilves 1-6 Ilves

J.Ilves 1-6 Ilves

Division group Champions Ilves only have one more game to play before the play-offs to reach the  Ykkönen division!  The draw has been decided that we will play the first game away to the Etelälohkon voittaja which is ÅIFK on 13th October. Then the second game will be played on the 20th of October at home against ÅIFK, the winner of the tie will be promoted to Ykkönen next season.

As for today’s game against J.Ilves it was a very comfortable win for the Group Champions against the bottom team. Kalle Multanen netted after 13 minutes, Sipiläinen scored the second and then Sipiläinen quickly made it 3-0 straight after!  Uimonen scored the fourth goal before Matti Jokinen scored shortly after making it 5-0.  J.Ilves did pull a goal back but Scheweleff made it 6-1 before the final whistle.

Our final league game will be at home next weekend against VIFK, but I’m sure everyone is looking passed that and onto the ÅIFK tie.
